Mixergy named an MCS Foundation grantee for grid flexibility research

November 6, 2026

Mixergy has been announced as one of the MCS Foundation’s 2026 grantees, joining a group of organisations working on practical ways to bring low-carbon heating and home energy improvements to more UK homes.

Our project will model and test how smart heat pump controls can cut peak electricity demand, so that network operators can avoid expensive reinforcement as more homes switch to electric heating.

The results will help show how much flexible demand in the home can ease the pressure on local networks.

Alastair Mumford, Programme Director at the MCS Foundation, said: “There will now be an opportunity to turn the lessons from these projects into changes that can be adopted across the country. By sharing what works, we can help more households benefit from clean energy and accelerate the transition to carbon-free homes.”
