InstallerSHOW 2025: Turning Policy into Practical Progress
Mixergy proudly sponsored the Elemental Arena at InstallerSHOW 2025 — a dedicated space for exploring how the UK’s net zero ambitions can be translated into real, positive outcomes in our homes.
Across three packed days at the NEC in Birmingham, we heard from industry leaders, housing experts and policymakers about what it will take to deliver low carbon, high comfort homes. The focus throughout was on how we can make the transition work for residents as well as the planet.
A commitment from government
The week began on a powerful note with Energy Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh opening the conversation. She had a clear message: the UK government remains committed to decarbonising homes nationwide. Her presence set the stage for a series of practical, forward-looking discussions.

Future Homes: Designed for real life
Mixergy’s Peter McBride led a thought-provoking panel on the Future Homes Standard, questioning whether current proposals give enough thought to homeowners and residents. While the standards target carbon reductions, Pete highlighted how they often fall short on usability and adaptability.
“People need systems that are intuitive, cost-effective, and responsive to real life,” he explained. Mixergy’s modular hot water cylinders and smart app controls were presented as a tangible way to close the gap, helping households navigate energy more easily while supporting wider decarbonisation goals.

Healthier homes, smarter systems
Later in the arena, Andrew Keating joined the conversation on healthy buildings, healthier people, discussing the often-overlooked role of hot water systems in supporting comfort, hygiene, and energy efficiency. In a sector increasingly focused on occupant wellbeing, he emphasised that the technology behind the scenes matters more than ever.
Reforming EPCs: Making regulation work for innovation
EPC reform was another major theme, with Pete returning to the stage to reflect on Mixergy’s journey through SAP Appendix Q, the route through which our smart cylinder achieved official recognition for its performance. The session called for greater space for innovation within regulatory frameworks, emphasising the value of real-world data, clearer standards and consumer trust.
“Smarter regulation unlocks smarter solutions,” Pete noted. “But we need to measure what really matters, from running costs and hot water availability to system uptime and user experience.”
Looking ahead
Across all sessions, a consistent theme emerged: technology and policy must evolve together to meet the needs of real people. From heat electrification to smart control, the future of home energy depends not just on hitting carbon targets, but on delivering comfort, clarity, and confidence to households nationwide.
We’re proud to have led the conversation in the Installer Arena, and we’re grateful to all the speakers and guests who joined us to share their insights and push the conversation forward.
